Agendas will be sent to the office, bills will be arrested through the court: how Ukraine wants to tighten mobilization
January 31, 2024Head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andriy Pyshty, receives an average salary of 629,000 hryvnias (15,309 euros) per month, lends money to his wife, and holds a significant portion of personal savings in dollars and euros.
This information comes from the declaration published by Pyshty himself.
He reported receiving a total salary of 7.5 million hryvnias (approximately 182,550 euros) from the National Bank of Ukraine in 2023, averaging 628.9 thousand hryvnias per month.
The total income of his family (together with his wife Lyudmyla) was declared at 20.2 million hryvnias (approximately 491,670 euros). Significant sources of income include payments from domestic government bonds totaling 7.4 million hryvnias (about 180,117 euros) (interest + bond redemption), the sale of movable property by his wife for 2.8 million hryvnias (approximately 68,152 euros), and her earnings of 1.5 million hryvnias (approximately 36,510 euros) from entrepreneurial activities.
Lyudmyla is involved in various businesses: she is a director at LLC “EDDA” (wholesale trade, including food products, restaurant activities), and the public organization “Vidchuy,” as well as the owner/co-owner of LLC “Brightshow” (radio broadcasting, theatrical/concert activities), “Fidnova” (production of feed additives), and “Planet RC Kyiv” (real estate and car rental, construction).
Andriy Pyshty’s family owns two foreign cars. The National Bank’s chairman owns a Toyota Land Cruiser 3.3 Twin Turbo 2021, purchased in January 2022 for 2.5 million hryvnias. His wife Lyudmyla owns a Mercedes-Benz S500 2012, acquired in July 2014, valued at only 150,000 hryvnias (about $4,000).
The total amount of the family’s dollar savings declared in 2023 was $500.4 thousand, and euro investments amounted to €72 thousand, totaling over 21 million hryvnias when converted to the local currency. However, $85 thousand out of half a million and all €72 thousand are held in cash, not in bank accounts.
Andriy Pyshty and his wife declared a total of 45.7 million hryvnias in the local currency. All national currency is either lent out or deposited in accounts, including in the National Bank’s pension fund. The head of the National Bank separately stated that he lent his wife 10.6 million hryvnias. It is explicitly stated that he lent the money rather than gifted it.
Additionally, the declaration reports the purchase of 468 government bonds in May 2023, each valued at 36.6 thousand hryvnias, totaling 17.1 million hryvnias. It is evident that these are dollar-denominated domestic government bonds.
