November 10, 2023Andriy Yermak, the Head of the Office of the President, stated in an interview that he does not know how to respond to questions about possible elections in March 2024.
This response came after the host inquired about the credibility of rumors regarding intentions to hold presidential elections in Ukraine.
“I don’t even know how to answer that. We are thinking about how to win this war, and we are doing everything every day for that to happen,” said the Head of the Presidential Office.
Yermak confirms that Western partners are in talks with President Zelensky’s office about the possibility of elections. “There have been no questions or discussions that could even be perceived as pushing for elections. They ask: ‘How do you feel about this? What do you think?’ They say, ‘Well, you know, there is different experience. In America, there were elections even during the war,'” Yermak explains.
“I am ready for elections at any time stipulated by law. But I have four questions: for the elections to be recognized as democratic by the world; for all military personnel to be able to vote; for all displaced persons to vote; I am not going to use money that we don’t have enough for weapons and the economy on elections,” he stated.
According to the Head of the Presidential Office, Zelensky responds to similar questions by saying that he does not “cling to power.” Yermak adds that Zelensky “definitely will not use the war to hold onto power.”
