The war in Ukraine did not turn into a short campaign, and now NATO suspects it to be a new stage of the Cold War
December 23, 2023Ukrainian “24 Kanal” host Alexei Pechiy did not return to Ukraine after the conclusion of the European Council summit on December 14-15 in Brussels, for which he was accredited.
On his Facebook page, Pechiy commented on his decision, describing it as “complex.”
He explained his choice to remain in Europe by citing the changing attitude toward Ukraine in the West, expressing his desire to contribute to “advancing the Ukrainian agenda” while staying there.
The information about his non-return was officially confirmed by the media outlet. Roman Andreiko, the CEO of the Lux media holding company, stated that the journalist made this decision “fully aware of all the consequences of his departure.”
“I can’t express how shocked I am – saying ‘don’t judge, and you won’t be judged’ doesn’t cut it. Time will tell. But people who cherished watching and listening to Alexei’s analysis must accept and decide for themselves if they are willing to continue trusting him,” emphasized Andreiko.
It’s worth noting that since the start of the war, nearly half of Ukrainian diplomats have not returned to the country after completing their assignments.
