As reported by “Suspilne,” on its channel “Culture,” today was scheduled to air a shortened version of the Oscars ceremony, however, after receiving materials from the organizers, the team discovered that there were no awards for Ukrainian documentarians there.
“The Suspilne team expressed outrage to the organizers of The Walt Disney Company Limited,” the statement said.
Recall that on the night of March 11, the Oscars were presented in Hollywood. Among the winners was the Ukrainian documentary film “20 Days in Mariupol.” Thus, Ukraine received its first-ever Oscar in history.
The unequivocal winner was predictably Christopher Nolan’s film “Oppenheimer.” It received seven awards, including Best Picture, Directing, and Best Actor in a Leading and Supporting Role (Actor of the Year – Killian Murphy). This film is about the creator of the American nuclear bomb, Robert Oppenheimer. But essentially, it is an anti-war film.
