The Kremlin announced Ukraine’s refusal of a Christmas prisoner exchange

Kyiv has rejected a proposal for a Christmas prisoner exchange.

The Kremlin’s official representative, Dmitry Peskov, announced Ukraine’s refusal.

“Judging by the reaction of [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky on social media, as well as his inner circle, the Ukrainian side has rejected all proposals from [Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor] Orban,” said the Russian leader’s press secretary.

Orban had earlier stated that Hungary proposed a Christmas ceasefire and the organization of a prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia. However, the Ukrainian leader reportedly declined the initiative.

In response, Zelensky’s adviser, Dmytro Lytvyn, stated that the Hungarian prime minister had not discussed a Christmas ceasefire or a prisoner exchange with Kyiv.
