December 13, 2024The losses of Ukraine and Russia in the last month have been approximately equal.
This was stated by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump in an interview with Time magazine.
“Recently, I had a meeting with a group of government officials who came and briefed me on the number of soldiers killed over the past month. The numbers are staggering, for both Russians and Ukrainians, and they are roughly equal. I know they like to say it’s not the case, but they are about equal. The number of young soldiers lying on the fields everywhere is overwhelming,” Trump said in the interview with *Time*, which named him Person of the Year.
Previously, Trump claimed that since the beginning of the war, Ukraine had lost 400,000 soldiers, while Russia had lost 600,000. Both Kyiv and Moscow subsequently denied these figures.
Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that since February 2022, the total casualties on both sides following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine have exceeded one million, including both killed and wounded.
“Every week, more than 10,000 people are killed or injured on all sides in Ukraine. Over one million casualties since February 2022,” he said.
According to Rutte, Russia’s losses have reached 700,000.
“They have already lost 700,000 people, both killed and wounded. This month has set a record for Russian losses,” the Secretary General added.
