The Kremlin commented on a potential meeting between Putin and Trump regarding Ukraine

Contacts between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump are extremely important in the context of resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

This information said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

“A meeting between the presidents is undoubtedly necessary. It is important primarily from the standpoint of Russia–U.S. relations, as well as for conducting a serious high-level dialogue on international affairs and regional processes—including, of course, the crisis surrounding Ukraine,” the Kremlin representative stated.

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio suggested that the timing of a possible Putin-Trump meeting would depend on the outcome of the ongoing Russia–Ukraine talks in Istanbul. He emphasized that a summit between the two leaders could significantly advance efforts to resolve the crisis.
