12.02.2026 - 12:40The Russian side expects that the next round of talks on Ukraine will take place “quite soon.”
This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov during a briefing.
“There is a certain understanding; we will keep you informed. We expect that the next round [of talks on Ukraine] will take place quite soon,” he said, emphasizing that the venue would be announced later.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the United States wants to end the conflict in the country by June. The Ukrainian leader did not rule out that the Americans would put pressure on the parties to the conflict in order to resolve the issue by that deadline.
He added that the United States had proposed holding a new round of trilateral talks in a week.
According to the Ukrainian president, during talks in Abu Dhabi the militaries of Ukraine, Russia, and the United States discussed technical aspects of possible ceasefire monitoring in the event of a political decision to end the war, including with U.S. involvement.
Earlier, Russian officials expressed doubt that the conflict in Ukraine would end by summer.
