17.11.2025 05:03A meeting between Russian and U.S. presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump has been “postponed for a while.”
This was reported by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov in an interview with Kremlin-affiliated journalist Pavel Zarubin.
According to Ushakov, talks about the meeting are still ongoing, and if the presidents agree to it, the technicalities “will recede into the background.”
“They agreed on a meeting in Budapest, then the meeting was postponed for a while. Contacts on this matter are ongoing,” Ushakov said.
He noted that Moscow and Washington are actively discussing a settlement of the war in Ukraine based on the preliminary understandings reached in Anchorage. These understandings remain in force, and there has been no official notification from the U.S. that they are no longer valid, the presidential aide added. He also emphasized that the results of the summit in Alaska have already been conveyed to the Ukrainian side.
Recall that media reported that at his meeting with Trump in Anchorage, Putin said he was ready for a ceasefire on the condition that Ukrainian troops withdraw from the entire territory of Donetsk Oblast.
Judging by subsequent comments from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Trump agreed to this and undertook to persuade Zelensky to do so.
Officially, Washington has not confirmed this. But media reported that the U.S. president and his special representative Steven Witkoff pressured Zelensky to withdraw troops from Donetsk Oblast.
