19.03.2026 09:00Talks between Ukraine and Russia mediated by the United States are on pause.
This was reported to the Russian newspaper Izvestia by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, despite the suspension of the negotiating process, Moscow and Kyiv will continue to maintain contact on issues related to the exchange of prisoners and the bodies of fallen servicemen.
Peskov also added that, at the same time, the Russian president’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev, continues working within the framework of the bilateral Russia–U.S. group.
“Kirill Dmitriev continues working. The trilateral group is on pause,” Peskov уточнил (clarified).
A participant in the negotiations from the Russian side, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, said that there is still no specific date or place for a new meeting of the Russian, U.S., and Ukrainian delegations. Moreover, the agenda has not been fully formulated, although the territorial issue remains among the main topics.
Meanwhile, yesterday German Chancellor Friedrich Merz demanded that U.S. President Donald Trump give Europe a seat at the negotiating table on Ukraine.
