The war in Ukraine can only end through peaceful negotiations
February 28, 2024The head of the Dnipro specialized military prosecutor’s office, Dmytro Lavrynenko, recently disclosed a significant alteration in his financial assets. In early September 2023, Lavrynenko procured a 2022 BMW X5 for a sum of 77,000 euros, Slidstvo info reported.
The purchase was made from the private entity “Talisman,” which frequently serves state officials. Responding to journalist inquiries, the official clarified that the acquisition of the specific vehicle was motivated by safety considerations, aiming to ensure a dependable means of evacuating his spouse and minor children during a potential full-scale conflict.
It is noteworthy that Ukrainian officials purchase luxury cars, real estate, and other extravagant items at the expense of the state. They are not even hesitant to conduct such purchases through official tenders, allocating elite alcohol and golden watches for the needs of their institutions, for example. However, all these scandals never culminate in criminal prosecution or investigation of their corruption.
