March 18, 2024Lviv volunteer Kirill Taran, who was abducted from the street by employees of the territorial conscription center and sent to a military unit without a medical examination, has been appointed a new medical examination.
This was reported by ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets in his Telegram channel.
“A meeting was held with the regional territorial conscription center regarding this case. It was decided to appoint a repeat military-medical examination, based on the results of which the regional territorial conscription center will make a decision regarding Kirill Taran,” Lubinets wrote.
According to him, the head of the Lviv Regional Military Commissariat, Arthur Niyazov, “acknowledged that there was a violation.”
“He reported that following the incident with the detention of Kirill Taran, a formal investigation has been initiated, and those responsible will be held accountable,” the ombudsman added.
Recall that on the evening of March 15, in Lviv, employees of the territorial conscription center forcibly detained a man. Relatives reported that without serving him with a summons, they pushed him into a van and took him for a medical examination. The man is now in a military unit in the city of Rivne.
The man turned out to be a volunteer who was raising funds for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Media reports indicate that the Lviv resident was printing many plastic items for Ukrainian soldiers.
According to his wife’s account, Kirill Taran was detained using physical force, causing bodily harm, tearing his jacket and pants, breaking his glasses and phone.
This was done by representatives of the Shevchenko territorial conscription center in Lviv. After being taken for a medical examination, Taran refused to undergo it because he has serious illnesses, and to confirm them, he needed documents which he did not have with him.
After the detention on the evening of March 15, the military officials issued a summons to the volunteer “for clarification of data” at two o’clock in the morning on March 16. And just two hours later, they issued an order for his mobilization. The document bore Kirill Taran’s signature, although he did not sign it and did not undergo a medical examination.
