23.12.2025 05:32People with illnesses are being drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine because, due to a shortage of manpower, military medical commissions (MMCs) have reduced the list of conditions that qualify someone as unfit for service.
This was stated by Military Ombudswoman Olha Reshetylova in comments to Ukrainian media outlets.
“The current version of Order No. 402 has significantly lowered the health requirements for being deemed fit for service… So yes, today the army is far from being made up only of healthy people,” she explained.
Reshetylova also advises those who have not yet been mobilized to undergo a full medical examination and ensure the information is entered into their military ID and the conscripts’ register, which can be done online.
As a reminder, we recently reported that in Cherkasy a forcibly mobilized man was allegedly held in a TCC for nearly a month. Because of his health, no military unit wanted to take him.
Earlier, an employee of the Kyiv TCC said that territorial recruitment center staff can mobilize almost anyone, regardless of health condition or documents exempting them from service.
And according to Deputy Commander of the 3rd Army Corps Dmytro Kukharchuk, TCC and SP staff are increasingly bringing homeless people, people with disabilities, and those sick with tuberculosis to training centers.
