“Consolation prize”: the U.S. will allocate $800 million to Ukraine for its own drone production
October 23, 2024Ukraine’s Minister of Health, Viktor Lyashko, who was openly criticized by the president due to corruption scandals involving medical-social expert commissions (MSECs) and the issuance of fake disability certificates, has indicated that he does not intend to resign.
During a briefing, Lyashko responded to questions about a potential resignation by stating that the heads of the MSECs do not fall under his direct supervision.
He added, “It’s easier to write a resignation letter than to reform the institution.”
According to him, the central MSEC is expected to be dismantled by the end of the week.
It is worth noting that in a recent address, President Zelensky mentioned that he received “very unconvincing reports” about corruption in the MSEC and the issuance of false disabilities to officials from both Lyashko and Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych.
Today, it was reported that the head of the Central MSEC, along with several other officials from the Ministry of Health, responsible for the scandal involving fake disabilities, have been dismissed.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that the medical-social examination system would be replaced by a new European model, which will be digital and fully transparent. No later than November 1, the Minister of Health must submit all necessary documents for consideration by the Cabinet of Ministers.
