The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine have expressed support for a bill that legalizes registered partnerships in the country, including those for same-sex couples.
This information was announced by the bill’s author, Member of the Verkhovna Rada, Inna Sovsun, on Facebook.
“The Ministry of Defense has changed its position and now supports the bill on registered partnerships. But that’s not all. The Ministry of Justice, which was supposed to prepare a bill on alternative partnerships, has also altered its stance. Now, they are ready to support my bill, No. 9103, and are preparing amendments for its second reading,” wrote the Member of Parliament.
She noted that previously, the negative opinions of these ministries had hindered the bill’s progress in parliament.
