October 18, 2023In Kyiv, apartment rentals with a view of flying “Shakheds” are being advertised.
The advertisement was noticed and shared by local Telegram channels.
“Do you want to watch ‘Shakheds’ and rockets flying from your apartment? Then come to us and rent an apartment in the residential complex ‘Slavutich’,” says a male voice in the promotional video.
It’s worth noting that rental prices in Kyiv have recently decreased. In August, apartment rentals in the capital city saw a 10-15% increase in prices. The main reason for this was the mass return of students to in-person education this year, prompting them to seek housing. Additionally, the influx of out-of-town professionals and migrants ahead of the new business season contributed to the increased demand for rental apartments. As a result, rental properties were snapped up quickly, and viewing appointments had waiting lines. This allowed property owners to raise the average monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment by 1,000-2,000 hryvnias to 7,000-10,000 hryvnias.
However, the situation began to change from mid-September. Demand for rental apartments dropped sharply and is now at roughly the same level as in July (which is typically considered the “off-season” for the rental market). Due to this, property owners are starting to offer discounts. As a result, the August price increase has been largely reversed. Furthermore, in October, rental prices may continue to decrease, particularly for apartments in newly constructed buildings.
