26.07.2024 - 10:35Currently, there is no urgent need to lower the mobilization age in Ukraine, but everything “can change.”
This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Dmitry Lazutkin.
“At the moment, the number of those who have updated their military registration data significantly exceeds the current needs of the army. Therefore, as of now, there is no urgent need to lower the mobilization age. However, the situation in the war depends on many factors and this can change. Right now, we do not see such a necessity,” Lazutkin said.
At the same time, Ukrainian military officials state that there is a shortage of soldiers, and the mobilization age needs to be lowered. This was stated by Vitaly Litvin, an officer of the “Rubezh” brigade of the National Guard.
He believes that “at 22, one can already be mobilized.” This situation, according to him, has arisen “due to a lack of personnel in the troops.”
It is worth noting that yesterday, the newspaper Bild, citing sources, reported that mobilization in Ukraine is proceeding slower than expected.
Earlier, MP Fedor Venislavsky stated that Ukraine does not plan to lower the conscription age to 20 years but may mobilize those liable for military service up to 25 years old.
