A woman who lost her son in the war is outraged that police officers and military enlistment officers are not serving in the army
February 13, 2024Controversial deputy Mariana Bezuhla refers to this process as a “functional review.” According to her statement, the Ukrainian army has accumulated many problems over the past 2 years of war.
“The General Staff units, who is fighting, who is not… who is in headquarters and who goes on rotations,” the deputy specifies. It is implied that there are many ineffective commanders in the General Staff. Rotations and “who is fighting” are yet another old problem of the Ukrainian army. It was previously stated that the army’s strength is 1 million people, but only 300,000 are on the front lines. The rest are presumably in the rear and are not sent to the front lines at all. They want to rectify this situation.
It is difficult to verify whether this is actually the case, as harsh mobilization is necessary for the Ukrainian authorities to urgently replenish huge losses. Otherwise, they could have used existing resources in the rear, but this is not happening. According to Western press reports, Zelensky is also demanding from Syrsky and the new command the development of a new war plan for 2024, which will include a new summer counteroffensive.
