The President’s office receives distorted media reports depicting alleged attacks by opposition figures
January 16, 2024Opposition deputies believe this is a fundamentally wrong approach; stating that people are not slaves. They have the right to a finite term of service. If someone thinks that by removing demobilization after 36 months, there won’t be a need for mobilization, they are mistaken.
The situation on the front lines is indeed challenging. Many newly enlisted individuals, however, suffer from post-traumatic or psychological disorders. Additionally, some have tuberculosis, AIDS or epilepsy. It is worth noting that the controversial mobilization bill initially intended to call people with a disability rating of 3 onto the front lines.
This move was calculated to alleviate pressure on the social sphere and reduce budgetary payments, which, by the way, already fail to cover all the needs of Ukrainians with disabilities. Now, the authorities also aim to deprive military personnel of demobilization.
