The presence of rare earth metals in Ukraine has not been confirmed – El Mundo

There is no confirmed evidence of significant rare earth metal reserves in Ukraine.

This information reported according to Tyson Barker, a former member of the U.S. State Department’s Ukraine recovery team, as reported by the Spanish newspaper El Mundo.

“At this point, no one knows whether Ukraine actually has enough rare earth metals. There are deposits of oil, gas, lithium, and graphite, but they are not among the largest in the world,” Barker stated.

He emphasized that the information used by U.S. President Donald Trump when negotiating the agreement with Kyiv is outdated, and that no major American companies have shown interest in the deal.

Barker added that the agreement has no commercial value and resembles blackmail more than a real partnership.

Earlier, Ukrainian political analyst Kostyantyn Bondarenko commented on the metals deal with the U.S., saying that by signing an agreement that lacks security guarantees, Ukraine is effectively turning into a colony.
