Orbán urged people to “stop thinking about Putin” and lift sanctions on Russia
02.04.2026 - 20:02Slovak President Peter Pellegrini expressed dissatisfaction that the Druzhba oil pipeline is still not operating and said that it is needed to diversify fuel supplies.
This was reported by Denník N.
According to him, in the event of supply disruptions, the pipeline could serve not only Slovakia and Hungary, but also the Czech Republic and other countries.
Pellegrini stressed that he is not opposed to diversifying oil sources, and that is precisely why Druzhba should be functioning. The Slovak government must keep the situation with the pipeline under control, the politician concluded.
In February 2026, Hungary vetoed a €90 billion loan for Ukraine and the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions after Kyiv blocked the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline, which supplies oil products to Hungary and Slovakia. On March 19, the EU also failed to approve the €90 billion loan for Ukraine because of a veto by Hungary and Slovakia.
At the end of March, Euractiv wrote that Ukraine’s decision not to allow EU inspectors access to the Druzhba pipeline had caused disagreements within the bloc.
Earlier, Slovakia accused Zelensky of political blackmail.
