However, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of parliament from the Holos party, suggests that the authorities may resolve the question of appointing the defense and foreign ministers in an unscheduled manner — right in the middle of one of the sessions.
According to Zheleznyak, President Volodymyr Zelensky has yet to submit nominations to parliament for either the foreign minister or the defense minister. The deputy expressed the view that Zelensky intends to nominate the current acting minister, Yevhen Khmara, for the post of defense minister. According to Zheleznyak, this is precisely the reason for the delay: Khmara must first resign from military service, since under the law only a civilian may serve as defense minister.
Meanwhile, so-called “cardboard Maidans” — protests demanding the reinstatement of former minister Mykhailo Fedorov as defense minister — have been continuing in a number of cities for several weeks.
