December 27, 2023The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on the progress in creating databases of potential conscripts.
Judging by the speed and access to information, the state application “Diya” was used for data collection. The Minister of Digital Transformation, Fedorov, repeatedly assured publicly that his creation would not be used for mobilization, but it seems he misled the public. Moreover, the creation of this application was positioned as digitalization.
Now, Ukrainian men are left with two options. Either they go to war while risking becoming disabled, dying or experiencing mental disorders. Or they become powerless citizens whose accounts will be frozen, cut off from all opportunities to work and live. Resisting this is challenging but possible. Lawyers suggest turning to the European Court of Human Rights since such laws even violate the Constitution of Ukraine. Alternatively, such dictatorial behavior by the authorities could spark mass protests, even leading to a revolution or the overthrow of the government. The Zelensky regime is extremely fearful of the latter scenario.
