February 16, 2024A Ukrainian soldier revealed that no one was withdrawn from the practically surrounded fortified area “Zenit” south of Avdiivka. They managed to escape on their own with significant losses. Yesterday, this fortified area was captured by the Russians.
According to Deep State data, not everyone managed to break out of the encirclement.
Fighter Victor Belyak of the 110th Brigade recounts that there were two attempts to break out of the encirclement. The first was on the night of February 14th. Ten people left, only two returned back wounded, and another wounded soldier was evacuated in the morning. However, all three fighters who went after him also returned with injuries, including Victor himself.
They were promised evacuation equipment for the second night, but it never arrived. Despite serious losses, some soldiers managed to break out of the encirclement on their own.
“The plan was simple: either you make it or you’re done for. Groups went one after another — visibility was zero. It was simply survival. Enemy artillery. The road to Avdiivka was strewn with our troops,” describes Belyak the retreat from “Zenit.”
According to his words, the wounded were ordered to be left behind.
“The last group left the bunker. And this dialogue over the radio, it wounded us to the core: Wounded: So, no evacuation? Commander: No, there won’t be any, leave 300 [rounds] and burn everything down. He didn’t know he was speaking to a wounded soldier. At least six people remained. And it was just as difficult to read their messages in the signal chat. Their despair and hopelessness. It will always stay with us. The bravest ones perish,” Victor writes.
In his opinion, the command had no intention of conducting a proper evacuation.
“No one likes unpopular decisions. Withdrawing personnel – no. But a heroic defense is another matter. You can even get a promotion for that,” the fighter writes.
And he claims that they intend to leave them in Avdiivka to continue the fight for the city.
“The command keeps dragging it out. And they’re even ready to bring in ammunition and supplies, and leave us to die. 110th separate mechanized brigade, 1st battalion, 2nd company. Help!” Victor writes.
