The Russian army broke through to a village on the approaches to a key Ukrainian fortified area in the Zaporizhzhia region

Russian forces have launched an assault in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region and broken through into the village of Mala Tokmachka, located on the approaches to the city of Orikhiv.

This was reported by both Ukrainian and Russian military Telegram channels.

The Deep State monitoring project wrote that the attack took place along the line from Nesterianka to Mala Tokmachka, publishing a corresponding map. According to the post, Russian troops advanced using armored vehicles and motorcycles, deploying infantry that entered Mala Tokmachka and remains there as of now.

Deep State claims that Ukrainian forces destroyed some of the attacking vehicles, but described the incident as “a serious wake-up call” for the Ukrainian command.

Russian military channels report that their troops control most of Mala Tokmachka, though fighting for the settlement is still ongoing — Ukrainian forces are striking with drones and HIMARS rocket systems. According to Russian sources, the breakthrough was achieved by creating an “armored fist” protected from drones by electronic warfare (EW) systems.

As a reminder, this sector was the main axis of Ukraine’s failed summer counteroffensive in 2023. Orikhiv remains one of the key fortified strongholds of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Zaporizhzhia region, with a direct highway leading from the city toward Zaporizhzhia.
