21.04.2025 - 09:48Russia’s Ministry of Defense has confirmed the end of the Easter ceasefire.
A representative of the ministry told journalists.
“With the expiration of the ceasefire, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have resumed the special military operation,” the statement read.
The ministry also noted that Ukrainian forces (AFU) largely adhered to the ceasefire.
“During the daytime hours of the Easter truce, the intensity of fire and combat activity by the AFU was significantly reduced,” the Russian Defense Ministry stated.
However, Russia claimed to have recorded 4,900 ceasefire violations by Ukraine during the truce period.
The Easter ceasefire began on April 9 at 6:00 PM and lasted until midnight on Monday, April 21.
Following the end of the ceasefire, Ukraine’s Air Force reported renewed aerial attacks overnight. Russia launched 96 Shahed drones and three missiles, of which 42 drones were shot down, while another 47 reportedly failed to hit their targets.
Meanwhile, Russia claimed its strikes hit infrastructure at a military airfield, ammunition depots, and drone storage facilities in 74 locations across Ukraine.
