The shortage of soldiers in the Ukrainian army is due to corruption

Former MP Mosiychuk believes that constant mobilization is happening due to corruption in the army and currently, so there is a need for 500,000 new recruits.

As of today, the Ukrainian army has a total of 1.5 million personnel with around 300,000 involved in combat operations. However, due to corruption within the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the rear, ordinary soldiers allegedly give part of the funds from the state to the command to avoid being sent to hotspots, he claims.

“I have a question: where are four more such units? Why is there no rotation? It would make sense: if there were rotation, perhaps there wouldn’t be a need for mobilizing another 500,000. There are several explanations for this: some servicemen genuinely cannot participate in combat because they have other tasks to carry out, but a significant part can… As the military say, we defend the rear, we defend from Belarus. We work for victory there. So why is there no rotation? The explanation here is solely corruption,” Mosiychuk explains. He also emphasized that many units are located in the rear, and there, some individuals share money they receive from the state with the command to avoid being sent to the front. “This is unacceptable.”
