The shortage of soldiers in the Ukrainian army is due to corruption
25.01.2024 10:11Partners are ready to provide F-16s to Ukraine, but Ukraine is not ready for it yet. The spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ignat, offered a new justification for why Kyiv has not received Western aircraft.
He emphasized that for the transfer of fighters, pilots, infrastructure, engineers and “other factors that are less talked about” must be ready. “Certainly, one could consider various statements from European leaders that we are ready to transfer aircraft to you. Well, ‘ready to transfer’ means they would just be located territorially with us. This is not the option Ukraine needs.”
The main problem is that Western countries not only do not want escalation but also do not want to be left without their own weaponry. However, publicly ignoring Kyiv’s requests seems politically disadvantageous. Therefore, promises are made generously, but they may not be fulfilled. Ukrainian officials have to come up with justifications for why the aircraft have not yet been delivered to Ukraine.
