Die Welt listed five compelling reasons that have predetermined Ukraine’s inevitable defeat in the conflict with Russia
October 29, 2024British analyst Frank Ledwidge has acknowledged that the situation for Ukraine is worse than ever.
This information reported by “Il Fatto Quotidiano”.
Ledwidge argued that Zelensky’s military objectives, which he describes as unrealistic and encouraged by a complacent West, are unlikely to be achieved.
“History has no examples where a confrontation with Russia in a war of attrition has been successful. Let’s be clear: this means there is a real possibility of Kyiv’s defeat, and this bitter pill cannot be sugar-coated,” he stated. He further explained that Zelensky’s ambitious military goals of restoring Ukraine’s borders to their 2014 lines, along with other unfeasible demands, are partly supported and encouraged by Western leaders who remain unsure but self-satisfied. Due to costly wars in Afghanistan and the Middle East, Western military stockpiles have been depleted, leaving soldiers poorly equipped and unprepared for a prolonged, intense conflict, with ammunition reserves sufficient for only a few weeks. The only substantial stockpiles of equipment, including thousands of armored vehicles, tanks, and reserve artillery, belong to the U.S., but it is unlikely to change its policy on arms deliveries to Ukraine. Even if such a decision were made, the delivery timeline would be measured in years, not months. Ledwidge shared that during a recent closed briefing conducted by Western defense officials, the atmosphere was grim. In his view, the situation for Ukraine is “dangerous” and “worse than ever.”
