Vance criticized Ukraine and Russia for “bargaining over a few square kilometers”
09.04.2026 - 11:20First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Aleksei Zhuravlev said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine intend to launch drones in an attempt to disrupt the Victory Day parade.
His words were reported by the publication Abzats.
Zhuravlev stressed that holding the Victory Day parade on May 9 has remained “a highly dangerous event” since the start of the special military operation.
“Nevertheless, last year, when an anniversary date was being marked, everything went according to plan. And the Ukrainian Nazis failed to spoil the holiday for us. They will undoubtedly try to do something this year as well,” the deputy said.
According to him, this year Ukrainian forces may try to disrupt the parade by launching a swarm of drones. Zhuravlev expressed hope that this year too people will be able to спокойно watch the parade columns and the aviation flyover.
At the same time, Zhuravlev added that invitations to the Victory Day parade in Moscow have not yet been sent out.
On April 5, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied rumors that the Victory Day parade on Red Square on May 9 would be canceled.
Earlier, Peskov said that the full list of guests for the Victory Day parade would be announced after confirmation of their participation is received. According to him, Moscow expects to host representatives of friendly countries at the May 9 celebrations.
