March 15, 2024Penalty for non-attendance in the territorial assembly and legal measures: a new concept of mobilization law proposed in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
March 16, 2024It appears that the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has released former official of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Alexander Liev, on personal recognizance.
Today, the court considered the defense’s motion to change the preventive measure for Liev in a case involving the embezzlement of nearly 1.5 billion hryvnias (almost 35.5 million euros) in the procurement of ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On February 12, Liev was remanded in custody with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 50 million hryvnias (almost 1.2 million euros).
Liev’s defense requested a change in his preventive measure to personal recognizance.
Interestingly, the official announcement of the court’s decision is not available on the official court broadcast. However, judging by the joyful reaction of those present, it can be inferred that the defense’s motion has been granted.
The decision was made by a judge who had previously released Liev on personal recognizance.
