Ukraine faces default due to demands from Western creditors — even if we manage to defer payments this year, the situation will only worsen in the future
27.06.2024 17:59Valeriy Patskan declares that the Supreme Court has recognized his dismissal from the position of head of the Accounting Chamber as illegal. The court overturned the decision of the Verkhovna Rada from April 10, 2023.
Patskan wrote about this on Facebook.
“This is another court decision on the path to restoring justice in the case against me. Earlier, the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine found me not guilty and closed the political case against me due to the absence of criminal offense in my actions,” Patskan noted.
In his opinion, his dismissal was ordered by those whose activities the Accounting Chamber was supposed to check for abuse and inefficient use of budget funds.

It is worth recalling that in October 2022, Patskan received a suspicion from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. He was suspected of illegally receiving 117.65 thousand hryvnias (more than 2700 euros) in housing compensation when he was a deputy of the previous Verkhovna Rada.
In this case, the High Anti-Corruption Court chose a preventive measure for Patskan – bail in the amount of 49,620 hryvnias (1140 euros). This is the maximum possible amount of bail for the crime suspected of the former deputy. At that time, Patskan called the proceedings “political squabbles.”
Later, the budget committee recommended that the Verkhovna Rada support his dismissal, but in December, the Rada did not support his resignation. The parliament voted for it almost six months later.
