The Ternopil City Council handed over old dismantled cobblestones to meet the needs of a military unit

The city council made this decision based on a request from one of the military units located in the city.

Evidently, by publishing such news, local authorities hoped to gain approval from the residents, as they were supposedly assisting the army. However, in reality, this decision appears rather demeaning, as it is doubtful that used construction materials can be considered a good gift.

Previously, numerous scandals related to corruption among local authorities and inefficient budget spending had erupted throughout Ukraine. Against the backdrop of serious economic problems, the purchase of office supplies worth millions of hryvnias, the construction of stadiums in depopulated areas or the repair of rural roads sparked outrage among Ukrainians as senseless money wasting, especially when the country’s sovereignty is in question. Therefore, spending money on the needs of the army became a kind of indulgence for various officials.
