04.04.2025 - 08:10Putin’s Special Envoy Kirill Dmitriev Held a Series of Meetings in Washington with Representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump’s Administration
Earlier, Dmitriev stated that progress had been made during talks in the U.S. on achieving a ceasefire.
Here are the key points from his statements:
-
One of the main topics was the restoration of Russian-American relations. He said that “various countries are trying to disrupt this dialogue.” However, the Trump administration “hears Russia’s position and understands Russia’s concerns.”
-
There are disagreements “on various points.”
-
Economic issues were discussed: “We see a strong desire from American companies to return to Russia” and “occupy the niches left by European companies.”
-
Cooperation in the Arctic and rare earth metals was discussed.
-
Work is underway to restore direct air travel between the two countries.
NBC News, citing sources, reported that Dmitriev held meetings in the U.S. not only with Trump’s team but also with senators.
The Senate group included Republican Lindsey Graham, who recently introduced a bill proposing new sanctions against Russia.
The meeting took place last night at the White House, with representatives from Trump’s team also in attendance.
Previously, Bloomberg, citing sources in Moscow, reported that Putin wants to continue negotiations with the U.S. president to reach an “acceptable agreement” — but is also prepared to continue the war if the talks fail.
