“Moving toward Europe is pointless”: Medvedchuk stated that Ukraine can only find support from Russia
18.04.2025 08:38The United States is willing to continue peace talks for a “few more days,” after which it will “move on” and focus on other global issues.
This information said U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“If our efforts to stop the war in Ukraine fail in the coming days, we will inform President Trump that negotiations are no longer a viable option. If both sides are serious about peace, we’re ready to help—otherwise, we’ll move on,” Rubio stated.
He emphasized that the U.S. has supported Ukraine for three years, but now has reached a point where it needs to focus on other matters, as “America has many other priorities around the world.”
Rubio also said the U.S. is “not yet ready to publicly discuss” security guarantees for Ukraine.
“We need to quickly determine—within just a few days—whether a resolution is achievable in the coming weeks. If it is, we’re involved. If not, then we have other priorities.”
“I believe this can be fixed and resolved in a way that satisfies everyone. But we face more serious challenges, and we need to know if this can be solved in the short term.”
“One thing is clear: there is no military solution to this war. Neither side has the strategic capability to bring it to a quick end.”
Rubio also pointed out that some sanctions against Russia are European, meaning the U.S. cannot lift them unilaterally, even as part of a peace deal, and thus Europe must be involved in any agreement.
“From the U.S. side, we’ve supported Ukraine for three years, spending billions of dollars. But now, we’ve reached a moment when we must focus on other areas. We remain ready to participate in this process,” Rubio concluded.
