“The U.S. and Europe will use the 30-day ceasefire to arm Ukraine”, – Diesen
13.03.2025 15:21The U.S. is discussing with Russia and Germany the purchase of Nord Stream pipelines and other energy infrastructure to restart the supply of Russian energy resources to Europe after the war in Ukraine ends.
This was reported in an investigation by the German publication Correctiv.
According to their sources, the discussions have been ongoing for several months. In addition to Nord Stream, the Americans have shown interest in a subsidiary of Rosneft in Germany, which owns 54% of the Schwedt refinery (supplied with oil via the Druzhba pipeline) and smaller shares in the southern German refineries Bayernoil and Miro.
Out of the three Nord Stream pipelines, only one remained intact after the explosions in the fall of 2022.
Back in November, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that American investor and Trump supporter Stephen Lynch had attempted to take part in the Nord Stream 2 project. Documents from Nord Stream 2 AG’s bankruptcy case in Switzerland also indicate ongoing negotiations. Earlier this year, the company told the court that it was “in intensive contact with financial investors.”
Recently, Bild also reported that secret negotiations on restarting Nord Stream 2 had been taking place in Switzerland for several weeks. The Kremlin denied these claims.
