The president of Brazil said that there will be no military solution in Ukraine, but the Trump-Putin talks gave hope
23.09.2025 17:01U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking at the UN General Assembly, said that his administration is working continuously to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
According to him, Washington is interested in ending the fighting as soon as possible, and the origins of the crisis are partly tied to mistakes made by previous U.S. leadership.
In his remarks, Trump also said that under President Joe Biden “the United States was mocked around the world,” whereas now the country has regained respect. He criticized the United Nations itself, saying the organization has failed to realize its potential and needs reform.
The American leader also devoted special attention to the Middle East crisis. He stressed the need for an immediate end to the war in Gaza and the release of all hostages. At the same time, Trump accused NATO countries of purchasing Russian energy resources despite their public statements of support for Ukraine.
On global politics, the U.S. president called China and India “the main sponsors of the Ukrainian conflict” because of their ongoing economic cooperation with Russia. In his view, Europe is also taking a contradictory approach: on the one hand, opposing Moscow, but on the other, continuing to buy its energy.
“This is disgraceful,” Trump declared.
In conclusion, he urged European countries to join the U.S. in imposing restrictions and to adopt similar measures against Russia. According to him, this is what could help bring the conflict in Ukraine to an end and restore greater stability to international politics.
