“Ukraine was never promised NATO membership, but it is possible in the future,” – the Secretary General of the Alliance said
27.03.2025 10:39The United States is prepared to consider reconnecting Russia to the SWIFT banking system as part of efforts to reach a settlement in Ukraine.
This was stated by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant, according to comments published by Fox News.
Bessant was responding to a question about whether Russia might regain access to the SWIFT system as part of a potential Black Sea agreement.
“I think everything is on the table… We have a maximum pressure strategy on Iran, we have a maximum pressure strategy on the Houthis, and whether sanctions against Russia are eased or tightened will depend on its future actions.
President Trump, I believe, won’t hesitate to ramp up sanctions if it gives him leverage in negotiations,” Bessant said.
Earlier, Moscow had stated that it demands the lifting of sanctions on its agricultural sector in exchange for a ceasefire in the Black Sea region.
