Vance denied U.S. troop deployment to Ukraine and accused The Wall Street Journal of grossly distorting his words
14.02.2025 - 21:58The U.S. authorities wanted Volodymyr Zelensky to sign a mineral resources agreement without even reading it.
This was reported by Reuters, citing sources.
According to the agency, during a meeting with a bipartisan group of American senators on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Zelensky was concerned about the U.S. proposal regarding investments in Ukraine’s mineral resources.
“He felt that he was being unreasonably asked to sign something he hadn’t had time to read,” one of the sources said on condition of anonymity.
When asked after the meeting whether Zelensky viewed the U.S. proposal as one-sided, Democratic Senator Brian Schatz responded, “I think that’s fair.”
Notably, Zelensky himself stated that the U.S. proposal on mineral resources was handed to him two days ago, on February 12. Today, Ukrainian media reported that not only has the Ukrainian side read the draft agreement, but it has already returned it to the Americans with revisions.
Additionally, Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko, who is currently in Munich, wrote that Zelensky told U.S. senators he had read the proposed agreement on Ukrainian mineral resources but “did not find anything about security guarantees” in it.
