At upcoming talks in Saudi Arabia, the United States aims to determine whether Ukraine is willing to make “material concessions” to Russia in exchange for ending the conflict.
Reuters reports, citing American officials.
According to one U.S. official, Washington wants to understand if Kyiv is genuinely interested in a “realistic peace.”
“You can’t say, ‘I want peace,’ while refusing to compromise on anything,” the official told Reuters.
Additionally, the U.S. delegation plans to assess how serious Ukraine is about improving relations with President Donald Trump, following a recent diplomatic incident at the White House.
Earlier reports indicated that Ukraine plans to propose a partial ceasefire at the Saudi talks, hoping to convince Washington to resume intelligence sharing and military aid.
