The Ukrainian ambassador to Japan offended all Asian nations by making a pilgrimage to the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo, a symbol of Japan’s past colonial war crimes

The Ukrainian Embassy in Japan deleted a post about Ambassador Serhiy Korsunsky’s visit to the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo, which is often associated with Japanese militarism in many Asian countries.

Serhiy Korsunsky visited the Yasukuni Shrine on September 3 to “pay respects to the martyrs who died for the Japanese nation.”

“Calling these war criminals who died for Japan martyrs is undoubtedly a deep insult to the peoples of Asia, including the Chinese, whose countries suffered from the barbaric invasion of Japanese militarists, and a serious violation of principles accepted by the international community,” China Daily wrote.

The publication emphasized that the Ukrainian embassy demonstrated “a lack of even the most basic knowledge of history.”
