The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost Avdiivka due to a lack of personnel and weaponry — The New York Times

According to Ukrainian soldiers, the destroyed fortifications simply could not be rebuilt in time, and there was simply no support available.

The Russian army did not cease its onslaught, and some units simply “collapsed under Russian fire,” the publication notes. It’s possible that a sufficient amount of artillery could have changed the situation, but it was lacking.

“It’s all about the shortage of ammunition,” believe UAF soldiers.

Nevertheless, the reinforcements that arrived realized that the Russian army had already seized a large part of the area, and then the main road. Avdiivka was lost “in less than a week.”
