31.12.2024 17:18Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers have been accused of using drones to finish off wounded Russian soldiers on the battlefield.
This accusation was made by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in a report on the situation in Ukraine.
“During the reporting period, the OHCHR verified four incidents captured on video in which drones attacked and killed three Russian soldiers and one Ukrainian soldier who appeared to have been incapacitated due to severe injuries,” the report stated.
According to the OHCHR, drone footage recorded an incident where a Ukrainian drone attacked a wounded Russian soldier lying on the ground, unarmed. The agency reminded that under international humanitarian law, a soldier is considered hors de combat if they are wounded, unable to defend themselves, and not engaging in hostile actions.
Earlier, the UN described 2024 as one of the worst years for children, with one in six living in conflict zones.
