December 20, 2023The Democrats and Republicans in the U.S. Senate have issued a joint statement, stating that the question of aid to Ukraine is being postponed until next year.
It was signed by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
“While negotiators work through the remaining issues, we hope their efforts will enable the Senate to take swift action on additional national security legislation early next year. In the remaining time this year, Senate negotiators and the administration will continue to diligently work towards finalizing their agreement,” the joint statement said.
“We are committed to meeting the needs at the southern border and assisting allies and partners in confronting serious threats in Israel, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific region,” added the senators.
