The US State Department and Congress will send an advisor to Ukraine to combat corruption

The US State Department and Congress plan to deploy an advisor to Ukraine’s Ministry of Strategic Industries. This move among other things is aimed at combating corruption.

The White House announced this after the first day of the conference on US-Ukraine defense-industrial bases held at the Department of Commerce in Washington.

“In collaboration with Congress, the State Department intends to deploy an advisor to Ukraine’s Ministry of Strategic Industries to support and expedite Ukraine’s transition to interoperable military forces, combat corruption and attract foreign investments into critically important sectors,” the statement said.

Furthermore, the US has formed an interagency group on deals with Ukraine. This group, composed of representatives from the State Department, Defense and Commerce, will provide support to Ukraine and other partners requiring recommendations on potential deals and export requirements for Ukraine’s defense industry.
