The United States and Germany intend to compel Ukraine to start negotiations with Russia.

German newspaper Bild reported this, citing sources within government circles.

According to these sources, the plan is not to directly urge Ukraine through the President’s Office but to reduce supplies to such levels that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would only be able to defend, not to launch offensives.

“Zelensky himself must come to the understanding that things cannot continue like this. Without any hints from outside. He must, of his own accord, address his people and explain that negotiations are necessary,” says a source in the German government.

At the same time, they want to put Ukraine in a “strategically advantageous negotiating position.”

“The White House and the Chancellor’s Office are coordinating this issue,” say the sources.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported, citing an unnamed survey, that in Ukraine, the number of people believing territorial concessions to Russia in exchange for peace are inevitable is increasing.
