10.03.2025 06:03The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has removed from its agenda a bill that proposed criminal liability for territorial recruitment center officials who illegally mobilize men.
MP Maksym Buzhanskyi reported on his Telegram channel.
The bill targeted cases where individuals with exemptions or official deferrals were unlawfully sent to military units. It also sought to hold military medical commission members accountable for falsely declaring unfit individuals as healthy for service.
According to Buzhanskyi, the bill was removed from next week’s parliamentary session at the request of the “Holos” faction.
The legislation, originally introduced in late January, proposed up to 8 years in prison for recruitment office and medical commission officials who violate mobilization rules. However, the bill did not address the use of coercion in street-level mobilization, including forced detentions, physical assaults, phone confiscations, and other aggressive methods.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian businesses have urged the government to hold military enlistment officers accountable for recruitment abuses.
