The Verkhovna Rada removed from the agenda the draft law on criminal liability for military enlistment offices for illegal mobilization
10.03.2025 05:32Outrage continues among Ukrainian politicians and analysts following a statement by German intelligence chief Bruno Kahl, who suggested that the war with Russia could last until 2030 and should be fought on Ukrainian territory.
After MPs Yulia Tymoshenko and Oleksiy Goncharenko criticized Kahl’s remarks, Ukrainian political analyst Anatoliy Oktysiuk also reacted on social media.
“Of course, Europe has no interest in peace talks or ending this war. They would rather Ukrainians bear the burden as long as possible to keep Europe safe. Their ideal scenario is for us to drain Russia to the maximum—at the cost of mere pennies—until at least 2030. And the fact that by then all Ukrainian men might be wiped out doesn’t seem to concern anyone. At least Bruno Kahl was honest about what I’ve been saying for the past two years. This is why Zelensky must urgently negotiate peace terms with Trump while conditions are still favorable. A bad peace is better than a good war. Unfortunately, we have fulfilled our geopolitical role at great cost. It’s time for our elites to stop playing along with foreign agendas,” Oktysiuk wrote.
Earlier, Yulia Tymoshenko, leader of the Batkivshchyna party, also posted a statement condemning Kahl’s remarks. Soon after, Oleksiy Goncharenko, an MP from European Solidarity, made a similar statement.
Both politicians called on President Zelensky to reach a peace agreement as soon as possible.
