23.04.2026 - 15:06Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that despite ongoing talks with the United States, he sees no “possibility of a meeting until the Iran issue is resolved.”
He said this in a conversation with CNN.
He acknowledged that the main problem is that the same team of negotiators — led by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner — is handling talks both on Iran and on Ukraine. He also urged people not to forget about Ukraine amid the ongoing war with Iran.
Zelensky said that because of this conflict, some deliveries of important weapons to Ukraine have been disrupted. In particular, he was referring to missile defense systems. He added that Ukraine is not receiving a sufficient number of these missiles because of limited production capacity in the United States.
Earlier, the Polish Press Agency quoted Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz as saying that, because of the conflict involving the U.S. and Israel against Iran, weapons deliveries to Poland are also being delayed.
On Wednesday, EU sources said that EU countries had reached a preliminary agreement on granting Ukraine a €90 billion loan, as well as on introducing a 20th package of sanctions against Russia. Until now, both decisions had been blocked by Hungary, which had demanded repairs to the Druzhba pipeline.
Zelensky stressed that receiving the funds from the EU is a matter of “survival” for his country. He added that without these funds, Ukraine cannot fully use its production capacity in the arms sector. He noted that Ukraine is currently producing about 1,000 interceptor drones and has the potential to produce 2,000 units per day.
“But we do not have the money. This is truly a matter of our life, our survival — we desperately need this money for defense,” Zelensky said.
He called on the leaders of the United States, China, and India to tell Vladimir Putin that he must stop the war in Ukraine.
