23.12.2024 - 18:25Ukraine and Europe are gradually “coming to terms” with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s intention to end the war.
This was stated by Michael Waltz, a Republican congressman and future National Security Advisor to Trump, during an appearance on The Ben Shapiro Show.
“The president has made it clear that the war must end. It’s been interesting to watch the shift among European leaders and Ukrainians: everyone is now accepting this framework. Part of my job, and the job of our team that he has assembled, is to figure out who belongs at the negotiating table, how to bring them to that table, and what structure for an agreement best serves our interests,” Waltz said.
He questioned whether liberating all Ukrainian territory aligns with U.S. national interests.
“My constituents, of course, ask me: is it in America’s national interest to expect that every Russian will leave every inch of Ukraine, including Crimea? How long will that take? How much money will it cost? How many lives will be lost? Is such a goal even realistic at this stage? These are important questions, and we are certainly discussing them,” the congressman assured.
According to Waltz, the outgoing Biden administration failed to clearly articulate what the U.S. aims to achieve in Ukraine and whether those objectives are attainable.
